The work is conceived as a site-specific intervention within a former library building that still contains the architectural remains of a historic elevator. Originally designed to transport gold to a bank vault, the elevator served only the basement level, leaving its metal cage as a functional relic within the stairwell.
Inserted into this existing structure is a vertically oriented, illuminated plexiglass volume. The light form references the dimensions and implied motion of the former elevator cabin, translating movement into an immaterial yet spatially defined presence.
Light operates as a constructive material, shaping space rather than merely illuminating it. The installation renders perceptible a residual movement, a historical function, and an energetic charge that remain embedded in the architecture of the site.
