Step by Step is a collaborative work consisting of a trick film and a photographic series.
The project is based on postcards and image material from the cities of Linz, Vienna, and Washington, D.C., which are assembled into a continuous visual sequence.
Through layering, displacement, and animation, familiar city views merge into a hybrid, artificial urban landscape.
Architectural fragments, iconic landmarks, and popular visual motifs are detached from their original contexts and recomposed.
The work deliberately operates with kitsch, recognizability, and media-driven simplification.
The city is not presented as a lived place, but as an image-space shaped by touristic, cultural, and medial projections.
Time and location lose their fixed coordinates and enter an ongoing process of transformation.
The series examines how urban identity is constructed through images and how familiar motifs, through subtle shifts, generate a new and surreal order.
